Problem
There is no pronunciation tool that really teaches language learners the right pronunciations and practices to have a fluent dialect.
Goal
Create a version 1.0 minimal viable product of Lala, a pronunciation tool for teachers and students that will help students learn by themselves as well as teachers use it in class and assign homework to students. It will also have an emphasis on pronunciations.
Role
User Experience Engineer and Usability tester. I was working autonomously and reported directly to the CEO and the CTO and discussed all of my work and design decisions with them in weekly meetings.

Our primary audience is middle-school students and teachers and hence want to gamify the app a little but we also want it to cater to everyone who wants to learn pronunciations.
Research
I was given access to research previously done by the CTO with details on branding and gamification. Although, I got most of my research data by talking to the CEO during meetings and finding out what our users (i.e. current students and teachers using the FluentKey tool in schools for K-12 language learning) needed, what kind of experience they're having with the current tool, competitive analysis, and scientific analysis.
I also conducted a competitive analysis on Duolingo and researched their scientific reasoning to understand what exactly they were trying to achieve and how they were implementing it. Some key takeaways include
